Product Overview
N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)glycine
Applications
- N-Protection Strategy: The tert-butoxycarbonyl (Boc) group masks the α-amino functionality, preventing undesirable side reactions at the amino terminus during condensation reactions. It is selectively cleaved under acidolytic conditions (typically using TFA or HCl in ethyl acetate/dioxane).
- Peptide Synthesis: Serves as an essential reactant in Boc-based solid-phase (SPPS) and solution-phase peptide synthesis for introducing flexible, achiral glycine residues into peptide chains.
- Pharmaceutical Building Block: Applied in the synthesis of peptidomimetics, drug delivery conjugates, and bioactive molecules where a flexible link or glycine motif is required
