Applications
Used as an N-methylated amino acid building block in peptide synthesis. The benzyloxycarbonyl (Cbz/Z) group provides amine protection during chain elongation and can be removed selectively via catalytic hydrogenolysis or strong acid treatment, allowing the introduction of conformational rigidity and protease resistance via N-methylation.
