Applications
A protected glutamic acid derivative used as a key building block in liquid-phase and solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). The alpha-carboxylic acid is protected as a acid-labile tert-butyl ester (OtBu), while the alpha-amino group is protected by the hydrogenolytically cleavable benzyloxycarbonyl (Z/Cbz) group, allowing selective functionalization of the gamma-side-chain carboxyl group.
