Applications
Side-Chain Protection: The 2,2,4,6,7-pentamethyldihydrobenzofuran-5-sulfonyl (Pbf) group protects the guanidino side chain of arginine.
Deprotection Conditions: Acid-labile group; cleaved under standard trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) cleavage cocktails (typically 95% TFA with scavengers like water, TIS, or EDT).
Improved Performance: Cleaves more rapidly under acidolysis than older protecting groups (such as Pmc or Mtr) and significantly reduces side reactions like tryptophan alkylation during TFA deprotection.
