Applications
An orthogonally protected lysine derivative widely used in Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS). The side-chain 4-methyltrityl (Mtt) protecting group is highly acid-labile and can be selectively cleaved using mild acidic conditions (such as 1% TFA in DCM) while leaving resin linkages (e.g., Wang or Rink amide resins) and standard Fmoc/Boc groups intact. This orthogonal deprotection capability makes it an ideal building block for synthesizing cyclic peptides, branched structures, side-chain ubiquitinated/lipidated peptides, and fluorescently labeled conjugates.
