Applications
The standard orthogonally protected tryptophan derivative used in Fmoc Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS). Protecting the indole nitrogen with a Boc group prevents unwanted alkylation side reactions at the indole ring during acidic cleavage steps, drastically reducing side-product formation-especially in peptide sequences containing both tryptophan and arginine. The Boc group is cleaved concurrently with the resin linkage during final treatment with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
