Applications
A protected threonine derivative widely used as a C-terminal building block or intermediate in peptide synthesis and liquid-phase fragment assembly. The side-chain hydroxyl group is protected as an acid-labile tert-butyl (tBu) ether, while the C-terminus is esterified as a methyl ester. The free α-amino group (as a stable hydrochloride salt) allows direct coupling to N-protected amino acids. The methyl ester can later be selectively hydrolyzed under mild alkaline conditions or converted to a peptide hydrazide for subsequent fragment condensations.
