Applications
Unnatural Amino Acid Building Block: Used extensively in peptide synthesis, peptidomimetic design, and biological chemistry.
Cross-Coupling Reactions: The aryl iodide functionality makes it an excellent coupling partner for palladium-catalyzed reactions (such as Suzuki-Miyaura, Heck, or Sonogashira couplings) to introduce diverse functionalized aryl, alkenyl, or alkynyl side chains into peptides.
Protein Engineering & Crystallography: Frequently incorporated into proteins via genetic code expansion or non-canonical amino acid mutagenesis to alter protein structure, introduce heavy atoms for X-ray crystallographic phasing, or attach bioorthogonal probes.
